Joints are what give our bones the ability to move. Without them, we would be stick figures. Swollen and painful joints inhibit our movement and leads to missed work and school. You can suffer from joint pain because of an old injury or because of a recent accident. And it could happen to any part of your body. Joint pain has no limits.

Many people have sore joints after years of arduous labor. People who work in factories, automotive repair shops and agriculture often suffer from painful joints. The truth is, joint pain can hit anyone. No matter what you do, you might be experiencing joint pain that is limiting your ability to do all the things you want to do.

If you are suffering from joint pain, the first thing you should do is visit a doctor. Do not try to diagnose yourself. Only a doctor has the expertise to treat your pain. At the first sign of joint pain, make an appointment to see your MD.

Joint pain usually indicates swelling. The pain can be all over, or you might be experiencing it in only one part of your body. Some people only feel the pain in their hips, shoulders or knees. Your doctor will ask you to pinpoint where you are feeling the most pain.

Your doctor will probably prescribe a pain medication to help you. It’s important you take it as directed. Don’t skip any doses. Sometimes people stop taking medication once the pain decreases, but this can lead to breakthrough pain. Your doctor will explain everything about the medication.

Physical therapy might benefit you. This will include gentle stretching and strengthening exercises. You will learn new ways to move so as to decrease the possibility of joint pain. Physical therapy combined with pain medication is usually very successful.

It’s important that you do not give up if you are experiencing joint pain. It will get better. After you get the care you need, you will see a world of difference. You will feel different too. It might take some time, but with the proper medication and exercises, you might be able to relieve most of your joint pain.
